July 1 Deadline for QISE-NET Applications to Program Awarding Funding for Grad Students in Quantum Information & Engineering

(QISE-NET) The Quantum Information Science and Engineering Network (QISE-NET), co-led by the University of Chicago and Harvard University, provides selected students with up to three years of funding. Students benefit from the mentorship of both an academic advisor and one from a leading technology company or national laboratory. Together, the student and their mentors take on a pressing research question that they pursue over the course of up to four years.
The network is funded by a $2.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation. It comes out of the NSF’s Quantum Leap – one of the agency’s 10 Big Ideas, which catalyze interest and investment in fundamental research to support emerging opportunities for US leadership. This novel approach to integrating research, education and technology transfer is highly convergent and cross-cutting in nature.
Proposals should be submitted by graduate students from universities located within US and US territories who are pursuing advanced degrees in areas related to quantum information science and engineering. These areas include physics, materials science, quantum or device engineering, chemistry, computer science, and industrial research. International students based at US universities are eligible to apply.
Applications for the third cohort will be accepted May 1 through July 1, 2020.

Notification: Decisions related to the third QISE-NET cohort will be made in late summer 2020.
