The Inside Quantum Technology (IQT) conference in The Hague in 2024 is set to feature a remarkable speaker, Wojciech Kozlowski, whose unique journey from theoretical quantum physics to the forefront of quantum networking exemplifies interdisciplinary innovation. Kozlowski, a Quantum Network Engineer at QuTech, began his academic journey at the University of Cambridge, obtaining his MSci in Theoretical Quantum Physics in 2012. He then ventured to the University of Oxford for his PhD in Atomic and Laser Physics, where he developed theoretical models for the interactions of quantum light with trapped cold atomic gases.

Kozlowski’s transition from physics to computer science is a testament to his versatile intellectual curiosity. Post-PhD, he shifted gears to explore the practical world of software engineering, working in the network protocols team at Metaswitch in London. This experience was pivotal, as it honed his skills in computer networks and ignited his interest in this field. His time in the industry gave him a robust foundation in the theory and application of network software.

His career took a significant turn when he attended the IETF 101 meeting in London, leading to his discovery of QuTech and the burgeoning field of quantum internet. By February 2019, Kozlowski joined QuTech as a postdoc in the Wehner Group, diving deep into quantum network protocol design and the software architecture for quantum networking nodes. His expertise and leadership skills soon saw him becoming a co-chair of the Quantum Internet Research Group at the IRTF.

In April 2021, Kozlowski embraced a new challenge as a Quantum Network Engineer at QuTech. In this role, he focuses on developing comprehensive software architecture for quantum networks, encompassing data and control planes. His work is crucial in shaping the future of quantum internet, a field that promises to revolutionize how information is processed and shared.

At the IQT conference, attendees can look forward to Kozlowski sharing his insights on the intersection of quantum physics and computer science, particularly his work on the infrastructure of quantum networks. His unique perspective, combining theoretical physics with practical software engineering, offers a glimpse into the multidisciplinary nature of future technologies. Kozlowski’s journey from quantum physics to network engineering symbolizes the innovative spirit that drives the quantum technology field forward. His session at the conference is poised to be a highlight for professionals and enthusiasts eager to understand the future of quantum networking and its potential impact on the world.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40 panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre The Hague.
