What is a quantum-centric supercomputer? IBM Quantum CTO Oliver Dial explains

During the G7 Summit in May, IBM announced that it is investing $100 million to build a 100,000-qubit “quantum-centric supercomputer” by 2033, and working with the University of Tokyo and the University of Chicago to get the job done.
So, what is a “quantum-centric supercomputer”? IQT Pro recently exchanged emails with Oliver Dial, CTO of IBM Quantum, to find out. Dial also talked about the importance of partnering with major universities to reach this goal, and even found time to joke about IBM’s penchant for naming its quantum processors after birds.
