The Quantum Salon Dragon
No, not this kind of salon.

Everyone loves to be pampered, even The Quantum Dragon. It ain’t easy these days, what with villagers resisting pillaging. Unfortunately, Dr. Aggie Branczyk’s Quantum Salon isn’t this kind of salon. Rather, it’s a deep tech communication salon. Fortunately, though, The Quantum Dragon loves that, too, and became a subscriber.

Kaspersky’s Take on Quantum Computers
This is somehow the first take on quantum computers I’ve seen from a traditional personal Internet security provider, which makes it fascinating. It’s also a cartoon, which caught my eye in the first place. This link might require a Twitter account. The company has 317.7K followers, by the way.
Quantum Dragon Wisdom ++ Limited Edition ++ Fan T-Shirt
In commemoration of The Quantum Dragon’s appearance on his Entangled Health podcast, Dr. Thomas Ehmer is selling a t-shirt on Etsy. Remarkably, as I write this, well before it’s been shared everywhere, the t-shirt already has sales. Obviously, I now have to look into The Quantum Dragon apparel.
What the heck is PsiQuantum up to?
Anyone remember when PsiQuantum was raising money and yet no one seemed to know what, if anything, was going on over there? You may have noticed that the company has been opening up quite a bit lately, culminating thus far in this YouTube video in which Dr. Pete Shadbolt gives us a virtual guided tour.
David Bowie’s Tips to Master Abstract Mathematics
Okay, okay, that’s not what it’s really called, but Quantum Formalism is putting the late David Bowie front and center to promote its five tips to master abstract mathematics. I’ll be honest: I actually don’t recognize the theme(s) for any of these slides, so please comment if you do. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Quantum + AI 2025 Speaker Acceptances
Q+AI takes place in New York City October 19-21, 2025. There will be over 60 speakers including: Bob Sutor (CEO, Sutor Group); Joe Wolfe (DLA Piper); Anna Taugiq (Verizon); Ilana Wisby (Quantum Moth); Ekaterina Almasque (Open Ocean); and Charles Beyrouthy (Forma Prime). Q+AI includes a “conference within a conference) – Q+Crypto which covers Cryptocurrencies in the Age of Quantum Computers. Registrants to Q+AI gain entrance to Q+Crypto (registration is also available for Q+Crypto only). The full speaker roster: www.iqtevent.com.
Super Early Bird Deal for Q+AI 2025 In Final Days – Your Best Deal has a Deadline
July 23 rd marks the last day to take advantage of a super early bird price which bring savings of as much as $1000 (onsite registration price). In addition to the super early bird deal one there are also academic, government and group discounts available – further information: www.iqtevent.com.
The WIERDEST Way to Learn Quantum Mechanics
I’ve shared some unorthodox ways to learn quantum mechanics, but this has to be the strangest. Not only is this strange, but it’s also the first link that I’ve included that I’ve had to explain to my wife before including it. It’s not NSFW, but it needs some ‘splaining. This link might require a Twitter account.
HHL Round 4: Inside QCentroid
The Quantum Dragon invites you to join him on this tour of QCentroid’s features. Spoiler alert: the 6 dragons represent benchmarking with 6 different-sized datasets.
Little Orphan Qubit
“Why Quantum Distribution Is Not Just Classical Networking 2.0?” by María Gragera Garcés is serious until it gets to the final subheading, where she throws in a subtle Annie reference. Now you may think that means I’m a big fan of the movie(s) and/or play(s), but I’m a much bigger fan of my kid with the same name.
Quantum Photonics Progress
“Markets for Photonic Quantum Computers,” by IQT Research, has created such a buzz that I shamelessly piggybacked on it last week. But don’t take my word for it! As evidence of my assertion, the report has caught the attention of Brian Lenahan, who quoted it and linked to it in his July 17 newsletter.
There is a verb tense problem in the headline since the machine has not yet been built and is expected in 2026-27.
Verb Tense Problem
Dr. Bob Sutor identifies one example of a growing problem: celebrating today what won’t be realized for years as if it were being realized now. To be fair, I’ve seen a version of this announcement that does not have this problem, so the question is: who thinks it’s necessary to pile hype onto an announcement that doesn’t actually need it?
Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!
If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.
- Shawn Gibford Industrial PHDc: Quantum Applications in the Life Sciences
Quantum Noise Detector
Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.
- Microsoft stirred up controversy again. See Dr. Michaela Eichinger’s post.
