Q-CTRL, has announced the release of Fire Opal, a user-friendly software package designed to enable algorithm developers to get useful results from today’s imperfect quantum computers. Quantum News Briefs summarizes the announcement below..
Quantum computing is expected to transform sectors from discovery and logistics to finance. However, most quantum computers are so error prone that they can run only the shortest and simplest algorithms before errors build up and render the calculations useless. Improving the quality of results returned by quantum processors is essential for quantum computers to deliver true value.
Fire Opal allows quantum algorithm developers in business and research to run more valuable algorithms on today’s quantum computers by reducing performance-limiting errors automatically. Early algorithm developers at large enterprises from banking, technology consulting, and investment management have become enthusiastic advocates of this transformational new product.
It delivers the same technology Q-CTRL researchers used to achieve up to 9,000x improvements in how likely quantum algorithms were to produce the right answer on quantum computers. This technology is now available as a fully automated software package free for any user via the cloud, enabling developers to improve quantum algorithm performance and achieve otherwise unattainable results from real quantum computers.
Fire Opal is hardware agnostic. The initial release includes integration with quantum hardware via IBM quantum devices, with more backend providers coming soon, enabling users to optimize algorithm execution on real quantum processors accessible via the cloud. California quantum computing firm Bleximo to set up satellite at Albany Nanotech

California quantum computing firm Bleximo Corp. announced plans this week to set up satellite operations at the state’s Albany Nanotech complex. Quantum News Briefs summarizes below.
Bleximo is based in Berkeley but will set up an office at Albany Nanotech where it can work on system designs and prototyping as well as marketing, the company said. It will also set up a research program with NY CREATES, the state-run umbrella organization that oversees the Albany Nanotech complex and its tenants, which include IBM and others.
Alexei Marchenkov, CEO of Bleximo, said the Albany Nanotech complex will allow it to rapidly develop its superconducting photonic chip systems.
“NY CREATES’ technical capabilities as well as a track record of successfully supporting technology commercialization efforts, make it a unique hub for Bleximo’s aggressive development and commercialization schedule of its next-generation quantum computing systems,” Marchenkov said.

Admiral Mike Rogers Joins Quantum Xchange’s Board of Directors

Quantum Xchange announced Retired Admiral Michael S. Rogers has joined the company’s board of directors. Rogers will advise the company on its go-to-market strategy and the continued innovation and adoption of Phio TX, the groundbreaking enterprise cryptography management platform and key delivery system used by commercial enterprises, government agencies, and their partners. Rogers joins existing board members including John N. Stewart former Senior Vice President and Chief Security and Trust Officer at Cisco Systems; Brian McGovern of AlpX; Rick Golden retired Senior Executive at Accenture turned private investor; Quantum Xchange CEO Eddy Zervigon; and Founding CEO Hal Chapel.
