Quantum News Briefs: April 2, 2024:

Cisco, Fortinet, Nokia join Singtel in quantum security initiative

In a strategic move to bolster Singapore’s cyber defense capabilities against quantum threats, Singtel has announced partnerships with Cisco, Fortinet, and Nokia under three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). These collaborations are set to enhance the Quantum-Safe Network (QSN) development, a project commissioned by the government with a deadline set for mid-2024. Utilizing quantum key distribution, Singtel’s QSN will offer quantum security solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into the existing network and enterprise security infrastructures. Through this initiative, businesses will have access to advanced protection tools, including Cisco’s routing platforms, Fortinet’s firewalls, and Nokia’s optical devices. This national strategic initiative, which also sees Singtel collaborating with government agencies like the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX), aims to prepare Singapore for emerging quantum threats over the next decade, marking a significant step forward in the nation’s cybersecurity preparedness.
