The Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative (CQC), in partnership with EPB, unveiled a six-week initiative today to celebrate World Quantum Day, commencing on April 14. The “Gig City Goes Quantum” campaign encourages people of all ages and educational backgrounds to delve into quantum technology through various interactive activities and educational resources. Events include live-stream challenges, hands-on sessions, and presentations by quantum experts from notable institutions like Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Arizona State University. This effort aligns with the broader aim of preparing the Chattanooga community for future educational and career opportunities in the burgeoning quantum sector, supported by contributions from diverse local and national organizations.

Exaion Inc., a Subsidiary of the EDF Group, and PINQ2 Plan to Launch the First Hybrid High-Performance Computing and Quantum Platform in Quebec

Exaion Inc., a subsidiary of the French EDF Group, in partnership with Quebec’s PINQ2, has announced the launch of the first hybrid high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum platform in Quebec by the end of 2024. This innovative endeavor, aiming to integrate quantum systems like Qandela and leverage IBM-developed APIs with IBM Quantum System One, underscores a significant Franco-Quebec collaboration. Positioned in Sherbrooke’s DistriQ, the quantum innovation zone, and supported by a $25 million investment over five years, the platform represents a strategic step in making Quebec a leader in quantum science. The project will provide secure, advanced computing capabilities to local and international companies, fostering solutions in critical sectors such as health and energy while propelling Quebec and Canadian businesses into the forefront of global digital and quantum industries.

Central New Mexico Community College Receives Federal Funding for Quantum Learning Lab and Training Program

CNM has been granted $862,000 in federal funds to set up a quantum science lab and develop a quantum training boot camp as part of a broader initiative to meet the burgeoning workforce demands of the quantum technology sector. This funding is part of a larger $7.1 million allocation championed by Senator Ben Ray Lujan to advance ten significant projects across New Mexico. The initiative, managed by CNM Ingenuity in collaboration with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories and the University of New Mexico, aims to equip participants with practical skills in quantum computing, vacuum systems, and lasers and optics. Slated to start in spring 2025 at FUSE Makerspace, the boot camp mirrors CNM’s successful Deep Dive model, providing hands-on learning leading to immediate workforce readiness in quantum systems and related fields.
