The IQT Nordics Dragon

The doors open this Tuesday!

By Brian Siegelwax posted 19 May 2025

This image is admittedly a bit misleading because no one is really going to allow a fire-breathing dragon into the venue. Nevertheless, The Quantum Dragon is interested in hearing from all of the exhibitors and speakers, and if you look up in the air, you might catch a glimpse of him circling around trying to listen in.

IQT NORDICS Opens in Gothenburg, Sweden at Chalmers University

The third annual IQT Nordics with 24 exhibitors and over 250 attendees opens Tuesday in beautiful Gothenburg. The conference offers 55 speakers and pavilions from several countries including Sweden, Denmark and Netherlands. IQT Nordics is unique in the world of quantum computing events as it resides in a different host Nordics country from year to year. Denmark (2023); Finland (2024); Sweden (2025); and Norway (2026). IQT NORDICS 2026 NORWAY ANNOUNCED

And now IQT Nordics expands its Nordics reach to Norway. OsloMet University, Simula and OsloMet Quantum Hub are joining with 3DR Holdings to produce IQT Nordics 2026 (June 22-24). The Norway addition to the rotation means that each year one of four countries host IQT Nordics – Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway. The conference and exhibition will take place at stunning OsloMet University and will include (as usual) a lovely opening evening cruise of the Oslo harbor. Additional information for sponsoring, speaking or attending can be found at info@3drholdings.com.

Raising Creators: Preparing Children for the Future

Sergio Gago is in this newsletter NOT for Quantum Pirates?!?!? That’s odd. Anyway, this is a great article, complete with not one but two F-bombs. And this shouldn’t surprise anyone: I love the idea of awarding XP (eXperience Points in Dungeons & Dragons parlance) and leveling up. This can definitely be applied to learning quantum.

Brain-Quantum Computer Interface as Musical Instrument

Prof. Eduardo R. Miranda is so excited about his work with neural interfaces that he just can’t keep quiet about it. He’s been working on this for a while, though, so it’s the sudden uptick in his excitement that has grabbed my attention. This link might require a LinkedIn account.

WISE by Day? WISE by Night?

Speaking of Prof. Eduardo R. Miranda, it looks like he just had another quantum computer music set in Berlin. I’m awarding a few admittedly worthless bonus points for the free drinks, but I’m awarding more bonus points for the event having a breakfast set by DJ Omlet. This link might require a LinkedIn account.

HPC’s Perspective

HPCwire is offering up its perspective on quantum computing through a presumably new QCwire monthly newsletter. What I find interesting right off the bat is that the first two companies mentioned are Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. These are never the first two companies mentioned on the QC side of the conversation.

Quantum Meow

I’m not going to pretend to know what a meme token is or why you might want one, but Next Realm AI has introduced one as a community-building agent for quantum computing enthusiasts. It has something to do with Columbia University student researchers who want to build a dedicated quantum computing laboratory in NYC.

A Work of Art

Piquasso is a collection of photonic quantum computer simulators. I played a bit with the drag-and-drop circuit builder, and the documentation shows that there is a Python language version as well. I prefer to play with Quandela’s real hardware, but this looks like a fantastic educational resource.

Still like to MOVE it, MOVE it with IQM

If you’re not singing the title of this IQT News Exclusive, I have failed you a second time. Introducing IQM Sirius: 16 pulse-controllable qubits in a star topology.

Soda Can Software Testing

Nathan Levy of Quantum Machines and his colleagues apparently test their code inexpensively with closed metal cylinders instead of expensively with actual qubits. I’m normally a fan first and foremost of analogies, but I’m mighty impressed this time by the ingenuity. This link might require a LinkedIn account.

Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!

If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.

Quantum Noise Detector

Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.

  • 3Blue1Brown made a QC video! But there’s already a second video clarifying the first video, which is why I haven’t watched either video.
