Welinq receives a 2.5M€ EIC Transition grant to enable the quantum internet

Welinq - Runa Capital

Welinq, a leading innovator in quantum networking, recently celebrated receiving a 2.5 million euro EIC Transition grant, underscoring its contributions to the development of neutral atom quantum memory technologies. This achievement highlights the company’s role in the QIA’s quantum flagship initiatives with Sorbonne University and CNRS. The European Union’s grant will empower Welinq to forge essential products to realize the quantum internet, enhancing the connectivity of quantum computers. As noted by CEO Tom Darras, this funding is pivotal, marking a significant milestone in transitioning advanced quantum research into practical applications for European quantum networking, reinforcing Europe’s strategic independence in this high-tech field.

Florida State University hosts researchers for Dirac Quantum Discussions

This week, Florida State University (FSU) hosted the Dirac Quantum Discussions at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, furthering the FSU Quantum Initiative’s mission. The event attracted over 70 participants, including faculty, students, and postdoctoral researchers from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Duke University, and the Ecole Normale Superieure Paris. These discussions are part of an ongoing effort by FSU to drive discoveries in quantum phenomena that impact quantum information processing, communication, and sensing. The symposium underscores FSU’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for quantum science, further highlighted by a recent $20 million investment to enhance facilities and faculty expertise in this rapidly evolving field.

India Celebrates World Quantum Day 2024 – Aspires to lead in Quantum Science and Technology

Flag of India - Wikipedia

India celebrated World Quantum Day 2024 with aspirations to position itself as a global quantum science and technology leader. This goal aligns with the national excitement around the recently approved National Quantum Mission (NQM), which boasts a budget of Rs 6003.65 crore over eight years. The NQM aims to boost research and development across four thematic hubs—Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing & Metrology, and Quantum Materials & Devices. Principal Scientific Adviser Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood highlighted the potential of quantum technologies to revolutionize various sectors, including medicine and communication. The mission will facilitate collaborations among academia, R&D labs, startups, and industries to foster innovation and develop practical quantum applications, positioning India at the forefront of the global quantum technology landscape.
