Dragons, pirates, and camels… oh, my!
aka The Recommended Quantum Dragon

It’s an honor for The Quantum Dragon to be recommended by the well-read Brian Lenahan, and even more so in such a small group. Fun facts: The Quantum Dragon is actually Sergio Gago‘s nephew and the Quantum Pirates’ cousin, and Dr. Robert Sutor is the godfather of “Dungeons & Qubits,” which featured The Quantum Dragon on its cover years before this newsletter launched.

IQM QUANTUM COMPUTERS IS EXHIBITING AT IQT NORDICS 2025
IQM is now an exhibitor at IQT Nordics taking place May 20-22, 2025 in Gothenburg. With three months to go prior to the start of the conference it is a certainty that this third annual iteration of IQT Nordics will be the largest conference and exhibition to date. IQT Nordics offers a curated seminar program and many networking opportunities for attendees. Included, once again, is a lovely evening cruising the waterways of Gothenburg. Additional information: www.iqtevent.com.

QUDORA TO SPONSOR AND EXHIBIT AT IQT NORDICS 2025
Qudora is the latest organization that has agreed to be an exhibitor at IQT Nordics taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden May 20-22, 2025. IQT Nordics will shortly be announcing several additional sponsors and exhibitors from several countries based in Europe. IQT Nordics takes place annually on a rotating basis in Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Complete program and network opportunities can be found at www.iqtevent.com.

IQT NORDICS ADDS THREE ADDITIONAL HIGH-POWERED SPEAKERS
IQT NORDICS taking place May 20-22 in Gothenburg, Sweden has added the following speakers: Maximilian Walz (T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom); Goran Wendin (Chalmers University and Rise); and Val Zwiller (Single Quantum). For additional information about the conference program, registration and sponsorship opportunities please see www.iqtevent.com.

Quantum Chemistry Simulation Challenge (QCSC)
Thanks to Dr. Stefan Knecht of Algorithmiq for making me aware of this. Upon further inquiry, this is going to be an unusually interesting challenge. I’m waiting on some details, and then I hope to write an IQT News Exclusive about it. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Bluesky Starter Pack
Thanks to María Gragera Garcés for asking and to Dr. Johannes N. Greiner for answering, here is a list of some of the quantum folks you might want to follow if you decide to take Bluesky out for a test drive. If you click on the “posts” tab, you can see what everyone on the list is posting, which might make selection a bit easier.
Free Website
Thanks to María Gragera Garcés… again… for making me aware — by sharing her CV — that anyone with a GitHub account can have a free website. I did not know that. I was inspired to create my own website and to upload my CV to it. The estimated reading time is 0.2-0.25 seconds. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Test your knowledge.
This post by the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology account is hopefully the first of a series. Maybe I should tag HKA Marketing Communications, the official PR/Newsroom Agency of IYQ Global, to help ensure that happens? This link might require a LinkedIn account.

C’mon, Microsoft, let’s do the twist.
This IQT Exclusive article about Microsoft actually has two twists: 1) it’s not about topological qubits, and 2) the “twist” that has been scheduled for publication for several weeks. If you haven’t exercised yet today, be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom, stand up, and play the video.
What is it if it is not useful now?
If you smell what The Rock is cookin’.
Move over, Dwayne Johnson, as Dr. Bob Sutor delivers one of the most electrifying catchphrases in quantum entertainment today in the 50th edition of Dr. Bob Sutor – Quantum and AI – Sutor Group. Of course, The Rock isn’t known for only one line, so there’s more than one line worth reading here, too.

The Dungeon Master of Quantum Computing
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, The Quantum Dragon Podcast proudly brings to you the Dungeon Master of Quantum Computing, Dr. James Wootton. Fun fact: Dr. Wootton is the first person in quantum with whom I corresponded.
Beam me up, Scotty.
Kudos to Infleqtion for explaining quantum teleportation in plain English. I’m awarding bonus points for the attention-getting graphic. This is an important topic, because, surely, the masses’ impression of “teleportation” is based on the fictional Star Trek implementation. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Is that really necessary?
I wouldn’t normally share this glossary entry by Google Quantum AI, but they include a pronunciation guide for “random circuit sampling,” and that’s just hilarious. Otherwise, this is clearly something that was developed by the marketing team, not the education team. This link might require a Twitter account.
Where’s the controversy?
Google Quantum AI launched both “Willow” and a brouhaha over “septillion” and “multiverse.” Microsoft’s launch of “Majorana 1” was met with a strong rebuttal. Now AWS has launched “Ocelot” and… um… nothing? Is it actually possible to advance quantum technology without controversy? Now, I’ve seen everything, folks….
How did I miss this?!?!?
This is 3 months old, and I have no idea how SQALE could post something that looks like the cover of a comic book and have it not cross my timeline. I am literally down on my knees as I type this, with tears in my eyes, desperately begging for your forgiveness for having missed this. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Check for a pulse.
IQM is adding pulse control, and I don’t seem to have a joke for that. If you know what that is, you know what it is. If you don’t know what it is, imagine having more control over your target quantum computer. Right now, you’re probably letting a compiler turn your circuits into a pulse schedule. What fun is that?
Zapata AI Job Seekers
If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.
- Shawn Gibford Industrial PHDc: Quantum Applications in the Life Sciences
- Dr. Francesco Benfenati Quantum Solutions Engineer
Quantum Noise Detector
Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.
- Microsoft’s “topological” qubits are still in the news. Michael Spencer and Sergio Gago have written about this saga at length.
