PsiQuantum’s Ice Cream Factory
Oh, and a data center...
In “PsiQuantum has a plan to make a massive quantum computer out of light,” James O’Donnell of MIT Technology Review wrote that the company is building a photonic quantum computer in “a room that looks like a data center crossed with an ice cream factory.” As an ice cream chef myself, I appreciate that analogy very much.

I use “Round one, fight!” as a subtitle from time to time, but the bell has rung, and this circuit compression battle between Haiqu and QMill is definitely going into a round two.
CIR’s Entangled Networks Market Report
I was enjoying Lawrence Gasman’s “Brains and Quanta: Emerging Applications for AI and Quantum Technology” when I came across promotional verbiage for an upcoming Entangled Networks market report by CIR. I just so happened to have contributed to that one, so I’m happy to shamelessly promote it with him.
“When quantum computers now can do better than you”
This may initially seem like a silly meme, but it highlights a serious problem. Certain matrices can grow exponentially, which means that the quantum circuits encoding them grow exponentially right along with them. And when that happens, you can say “buh bye” to your theoretical speedup. This link may require a Reddit account.
Dirac, not to be confused with Diraq
Quantum is plagued by a lack of imagination in naming… well,… just about everything. Now, if you’re familiar with Diraq, the quantum computing company, be sure not to confuse it with Dirac Labs, the quantum sensing company. I would joke that we need a DiraQ, but “DiraQ: A Pocket Linux for Quantum Computing!” is already a thing.

Just say no!

Quantum Error Mitigation
I remember learning about error mitigation. Well, that works great; why do we need error correction? It took a little time to learn the differences between the two, how each of them works, and why error correction is the path forward. You, on the other hand, can get all that on just a couple of pages of Yuval Boger’s “Quantum Bits.”
