Quantum Monster Detection

It’s real! Sort of….

The Encyclopedia of Quantum Technologies

First, there was The Bible of Quantum Computing. Then, there was The Encyclopedia of Quantum Technologies. And just when you think Olivier Ezratty can’t possibly jam more information into the latter, he goes ahead and does it anyway.

Concert: Quantum Loops, Broken Symmetries

Spend the evening of December 3, 2025, exploring music with AI and quantum computing with Prof. Eduardo Reck Miranda and violinist Victoria Johnson. If you can’t attend in person at the University of Oslo, you can alternatively attend virtually on YouTube. I’ll virtually see you there!

Quantum Leap or Quantum Hype The truth revealed

When The Godfather of The Quantum Dragon talks, The Quantum Dragon listens. This time, Dr. Bob Sutor spoke with Dr. K.V.N. Rajesh.

I hear dead people.

Dr. Thomas Ehmer is introducing a unique twist to his Entangled Health podcast, where he has previously hosted The Quantum Dragon. Now he’ll be hosting, interpreted through their written works, previously living people. Hans-Georg Gadamer is up first. This link may require a LinkedIn account.

Quantum Computing and the Arts

Wavelab is teaming up with AICA to present the intersection of quantum computers and art. The featured guests are Roman Lipski (artist), Emma Sokoll (quantum physicist, artist, and researcher), and Prof. Eduardo R. Miranda (composer and researcher). It’ll be free on December 11 and will be in-person only.

Building the Future of Quantum Computing with Diraq CEO Andrew Dzurak

In this interview conducted by Tom Zuber, Managing Partner at Zuber Lawler, with guest Andrew Dzurak, CEO and Founder, Diraq, we get answers to:

  • What makes silicon quantum dot technology unique compared to other approaches in quantum computing?
  • Diraq has set a bold goal: billions of qubits in a single system. How do you get there?
  • How does Diraq’s roadmap translate into solving real-world problems?
  • Commercialization is a challenge across the industry. Which sectors will adopt quantum computing first?
  • Quantum computing requires enormous energy. How does your approach address sustainability?

Big Brother is watching.

I haven’t seen quantum associated with Orwell’s 1984, so here’s Dr. Elsa van Garderen’s take on it. This link may require a LinkedIn account.

The Young and The Relentless

Matt Swayne’s take on the Unitary Foundation’s 2025 Quantum Open Source Survey is different than mine, but that’s not how you get into this newsletter. I can’t say it’s crossed my mind to use a soap opera for an analogy, so kudos on that. Had I thought of it, I probably would’ve gone with Days of our Lives or the Brazilian El Clon.

Why should I fund your startup?

Prof. Aephraim Steinberg shared a legitimate comic strip. I’m feeling rather nostalgic, quite frankly. This link may require a LinkedIn account.

Programmers will do it better.

I don’t know if that’s supposed to be the key takeaway, but as a programmer that’s my key takeaway from this podcast. insideHPC’s Doug Black (unseen in this 1:20 clip) hosts Alice & Bob’s Juliette Peyronnet and Hyperion Research’s Bob Sorensen. This link may require a LinkedIn account.

Save the dates!

2026 is shaping up to be a big year in quantum conferences, and here are the ones you won’t want to miss!

The Quantum Pirate’s Guide to Building the Future

Dr. Thomas Ehmer interviewed The Quantum Dragon’s uncle — Quantum Pirates Captain and Ion Maiden Rockstar Sergio Gago — on his Entangled Health Podcast.

Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!

If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.

  • Shawn Gibford Industrial PHDc: Quantum Applications in the Life Sciences

Quantum Noise Detector

Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.

  • What’s a “logical qubit”? Dr. Michaela Eichinger asked. Dr. Jay Gambetta and Dr. Jerry Chow answered. And the term now means whatever the hell you want it to.
