Never give up. Never surrender.
There's hope for the industry for contracts in and around quantum.
After Quantum Research Sciences, llc won a “significant” contract with the US government’s Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), I spoke with CEO & Founder Ethan Krimins about the process of getting a federal government contract. Maybe others would find that sort of thing valuable, you know what I mean?
The Good
He did get the contract. That’s good. It’s apparently the first of its kind for DLA, which is analogous to Amazon, if you think about it.
The Bad
There is no “silver bullet.” Talks with DLA started in 2022, so this literally took years of effort. Unfortunately, not everyone has the patience for this. However, Mr. Krimins analogized it to a professor who has to bring in grants.
The Ugly
Mr. Krimins has great quotes, for example: “The road to success is paved with pain and sorrow.” That’s awful if you’re trying to get a contract, but it’s perfect for The Quantum Dragon.
The Steps
- Look for a need.
- Research the need.
- Ask questions.
- Put submissions together.
- Wait.
- Probably “no,” then start all over again.
The Contract
In case you’re wondering, it’s a software contract for Product Obsolescence Prediction (POP), adding quantum capability to existing technology. In other words, it’s using quantum hardware/software to assist supply chain managers.
Conclusion
Activate the Omega 13.
No, I mean persistence pays off. According to Mr. Krimins, he and his team have won 25 contracts in total over the years, including in AI/ML, so maybe my next article or podcast with him will be on his yoga or Pilates routine, or whatever he does.
