IQT Europe Announces Joseph Broz, Vice President Strategy and Applied Sciences Department Head, SRI International, and Executive Director and Governing Board Chairman, The Quantum Economic Development Consortium, Will Present “Quantum policy in the United States”

Next in our series is Joseph Broz, Vice President Strategy and Applied Sciences Department Head, SRI International, and Executive Director and Governing Board Chairman, The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C). Dr. Broz will present “Quantum policy in the United States” at 4:00 PM October 29.
A theoretical physicist, Joseph Broz, Ph.D, leads SRI’s Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) in Applied Science, government business development, technical and business strategy. He brings 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors to this role—including an extensive background in corporate business development and subject matter expertise in condensed matter physics, quantum systems, electromagnetics, micromagnetics, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Broz has significant experience with projects for multiple departments and agencies of the US Government, and served as a White House Fellow, and as a Special Assistant to the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and as Special Assistant to Allan Bromley, Science Advisor to President George H.W. Bush. Additionally, he served as a British-American Fellow in the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and as a Senior Fellow for National Security at the University of Chicago, NORC. Broz has worked closely with governors and executive branch officials on economic development issues.
Before joining SRI in 2013, Broz served as the Laboratory Director for Tenneco—a Fortune 100 company, and as Vice President of Laboratories and Business Development for TIMET, the world’s largest titanium company, and as founder of Defense Capital Advisors.
As a member of the Homeland Security Standards Panel of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Broz consulted to the 9/11 Commission staff during its deliberations on recommendations for private sector preparedness. He has participated in a number of international commissions and boards regulating industrial standards, including ISO, and is a technical advisor on several ANSI standards working groups and committees.
Broz is a member of the American Physical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is an Associate Editor of the journal Science Advances, has published numerous technical papers and has been awarded several U.S. patents. Broz has a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute (ETH) in Zurich.
