No transcript is available. The key takeaway, if you already follow Xanadu closely, is that Dr. Weedbrook is Australian. Xanadu is Canadian, so I’ve been assuming that Dr. Weedbrook is Canadian, but I’ve apparently never heard him speak before. One of my questions, if I ever get him on IQT’s The Quantum Dragon Podcast, would be: Australia has a thriving quantum ecosystem; why Canada?

Here’s one case for the beaten-down stock.” is paywalled, but we know that it is about Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani writing that IBM could potentially generate billions of dollars in quantum-related revenue over the long term, and that investors today are essentially buying that exposure for free. To be fair, though, you could extend that speculation to several other quantum-related stocks.
WSJ Podcasts Minute Briefing
“U.S. Stocks Fall as Oil Prices Climb Toward $100,” despite its title, notes that Rigetti Computing and others rallied instead. This is attributed to U.S. government investments, which isn’t actually news, but the deals were finalized, and the rallies are attributed to that news.

“IonQ Stock Rises on Increased FY Forecast Following SkyWater Acquisition,” for some reason, shares an interview with someone unrelated to either company. It otherwise notes that the acquisition is anticipated to nearly double IonQ’s revenues, which is important to keep in mind when reading/hearing IonQ revenues. The company still talks primarily about its legacy quantum computers, but its acquisitions contribute the bulk of its revenue.

“A New Quantum System and $1.8 Billion Deal: Takeaways From IonQ’s Investor Day” is paywalled, but we know that the SkyWater Technology acquisition earned the featured image. It also mentions “new product rollouts,” but it’s important to mention, for a company that is still mostly talked about in regard to quantum computers, that that’s only a prototype on the quantum computing side.
CNBC Morning Call and News Videos
“IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi on quantum computing, AI and cybersecurity” most notably contains this quote: “Our systems, as they become more powerful, don’t actually become a lot more expensive.” Commercially non-useful quantum computers average $15M across modalities, so the projected cost of future large-scale, fault-tolerant systems is a question worth asking. “IonQ raises full-year revenue guidance following SkyWater Technology acquisition” is the hype-overflowing full interview.
Reuters Econ World Podcast
“The cost of quantum” is a deceptive title for a podcast that features host Carmel Crimmins supposedly interviewing Jonathan Ruane of MIT about the “economic dilemma” of quantum computing, the high-risk, high-reward investment process that requires billions of dollars of “patient capital.” Be patient yourself, though, because it starts with a long introduction to quantum computing, followed by a quantum vs. AI segment, followed by even more dialogue that is not directly relevant to the title or introduction of the podcast. After briefly touching on the advertised topic, the podcast once again drifts off topic. The key takeaway is that it’s apparently only controversial to say that quantum computing is potentially decades away if you’re Jensen Huang.

“Xanadu Quantum Technologies Partners with ASML on Advanced Lithography for Photonic Quantum Chips” is about reducing optical loss so that Xanadu can hopefully build large-scale, fault-tolerant photonic quantum computers. Losing photons is characterized as the company’s primary source of errors.

“FirstFT: Government buyback fails to halt rise in Treasury yields” includes two photographs involving UK-based Quantum Motion. The word “quantum” does not otherwise appear within the US-centric article.
Barron’s Technology
“Why IBM and Lockheed Martin Are Bringing Their Quantum Parnership to Switzerland” is paywalled, but we know that the new Quantum Innovation Hub is actually just a teaser. The article segues into the European quantum ecosystem a bit before then segueing into the US quantum ecosystem. The misspelling in the title is copy-and-paste.
Financial Times Venice Film Festival
“Dau film review — the art house strikes back in staggering Soviet-set masterpiece” is not about quantum physics, but rather a film about a quantum physicist. Nevertheless, it’s mainstream media coverage mentioning quantum in a legitimate capacity.

“Yomiuri: Japan, Netherlands to Strengthen Cooperation in Quantum Technology Development” is paywalled and surprisingly offers no teaser, not even any clickbait.
