New 5G Smartphone from Samsung Will Be Installed with Quantum Random Number Generator by SK Telecom

By IQT News posted 15 May 2020

(AjuDaily) A new 5G smartphone from Samsung Electronics will be installed with a quantum random number generator presented by SK Telecom, a top mobile carrier in South Korea.
The smartphone, Galaxy A Quantum, housing quantum cryptography technology exclusively for SK Telecom (SKT) users would generate random quantum keys for SKT’s mobile payment and verification services to securely manage customers’ personal information.
Quantum cryptography has emerged as an essential security solution for safeguarding critical information in the 5G era. A quantum random key generator creates data encoded in a quantum state that is virtually unhackable. Quantum keys are basically random number tables used to decipher encrypted information.
SKT said in a statement on Thursday that Galaxy A Quantum would be “the world’s first 5G smartphone equipped with a quantum random number generator (QRNG)” in cooperation with Samsung and ID Quantique, a Swiss company that provides quantum key distribution systems and quantum safe network encryption.
