Zuber Lawler’s Copyrightable Dragon
Humans can't hoard and pillage.
According to No Soul, No Copyright: Court Says AI Can’t Be an Author: “the Copyright Act protects only those works created by human beings,” and I can’t tell you how many priceless artifacts The Quantum Dragon just HulkSMASHED in his cave after reading that. I don’t know where he got such a potty mouth, either.

It’s-A-Me, Quantum Mario
I’m obviously sharing this paper, “It’s-A-Me, Quantum Mario: Scalable Quantum Reinforcement Learning with Multi-Chip Ensembles” for its theme. Disclaimer: I haven’t read the paper; I only skimmed it to find 2 images of Mario inside, including one classic screenshot.
Zombie Quantum
Zombie Quantum… I mean Zapata Quantum… is back from the dead, and it hasn’t missed a beat! After leaving quantum to focus on AI, laying off its employees, and restructuring, it still claims to be “a leading hardware-agnostic pure-play software company in the quantum space.” Seriously, that’s the best we’ve got?!?!?
Open Source & Socialism
This could be just a meme, but it’s ironic if it’s accidental. The Unitary Foundation is promoting its qOSS survey, and Dr. Korbinian Kottmann has chosen to associate the face of American socialism, Senator Bernie Sanders, with open source. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Schrödinger’s cat is a murderer!
Emil Wahlberg of Quantum Machines is hiring blah blah blah blah, but what’s really interesting is that we find out what happens when you check to see if the cat is dead or alive. At least the cat looks remorseful for what it has done, but now we know the second half of the thought experiment. This link might require a LinkedIn account.

QUNNECT BECOMES LATEST SPONSOR AT QUANTUM + AI 2025
Qunnect has been added to the impressive sponsor list at Quantum + AI taking place in New York City October 19-21, 2025 at 36 Battery Place. Q+AI is the only worldwide event devoted to the convergence of Quantum Computing and AI. Complete program information is available at www.iqtevent.com.

The Simpsons Error Correction (TSEC)
If Quantum Machines is going to share a QEC-themed Simpsons meme, I’m just going to have to share QM again. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
You kind of annoyed people for a while…
This video clip of Ashlee Vance saying this to Dr. Pete Shadbolt’s face is interesting by default, but it’s made even more interesting by virtue of being shared by PsiQuantum. I definitely heard the negativity for a while, and now the company is acknowledging it aloud. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Shall we play a game?
Artur Raffael Baracho Cavalcanti developed a game called InsiDiamond. I haven’t seen anything like it. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Cat Accelerators
Mark McGuire’s “QPU, Quantum Accelerator and Quantum Computing” shows cats being accelerated so quickly they’ve got lightning shooting out of their backsides. The article is officially about terminology, but I admit to often looking at illustrations first. In this case, the illustration deserves to be here.
Alice & Bob Lightyear
I have no idea what Buzz Lightyear has to do with Laurent Prost’s post on factoring, which namedrops Craig Gidney, but there he is. I guess the secondary April Fools’ joke is on me, because I admit to being fooled. Still, it guarantees inclusion here, so #wellplayed. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Someday, you’ll be able to….
Laurent Prost knows how to pick illustrations that guarantee inclusion in this newsletter. Looking beyond the “while you poop” line, for a moment, the post makes an excellent point. We lack the imagination today to know what we’ll do with quantum computers tomorrow. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!
If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.
