Understanding Quantum Gravity Via Holographic Duality Called ‘AdS-CFT Correspondence’

(Quanta.org) Thomas Lin, Editor-in-Chief of Quanta magazine discusses one relatively recent approach to understanding quantum gravity that makes use of a “holographic duality” from string theory called the AdS-CFT correspondence (Anti-de Sitter space).
An animated video accompanies this discussion and further explains quantum gravity in concrete terms: why the earth revolves around the sun or a shark falls back into the water. The video also explains in scientific terms how this correspondence connects a lower dimensional particle theory to a higher dimensional space that includes gravity. This holographic duality has become a powerful theoretical tool in the quest to understand quantum gravity. The video very much worth a watch.
