It may not look like The Quantum Dragon is celebrating, but he is indeed honoring Dr. Bob Sutor’s career and the launch of Sutor Group Intelligence and Advisory LLC by emulating Dr. Sutor’s career, starting from the very beginning. He hopes to reach that level too someday, starting by delivering IQT News to every email inbox.

Quantum Computing “Noise”
This article by Russ Fein, originally published in 2022, has been updated and republished. There’s nothing funny about noise, but the introduction of the article warrants some real estate in this newsletter. And, as always, I appreciate how Mr. Fein incorporates history lessons in his articles.
So much for a lunch break.
I knew that Cleveland Clinic installed an IBM System One, and I remember being shocked at how much physical space it was given; the room seemed awfully cavernous for only 127 qubits. Apparently, however, that’s the clinic’s cafeteria. Forget about HPC centers; I am henceforth advocating for QC-cafeteria integration.
The “World Dragon”
The “World Serpent” of Norse mythology grew so large that it encircled Midgard (aka Earth). Infinity Space’s DragonSat PocketQube satellites will encircle the Earth in space instead of underwater, conducting entanglement and coherence experiments in microgravity. The “World Dragon,” as I’m calling it, is thankfully unapocalyptic.
Calling all Quantumeers!
MariadelMar Mateo has a Substack to share and a LinkedIn event, and since the former links to the latter I’m linking to the former. The event is called “Quantum in Action: Commercial Titans of the Quantum Ecosystem,” but I’m sharing it because The Quantum Dragon likes to ride rocket ships. It conserves his energy.
One of the Most Valuable Learning Resources
In the gemstone realm, a black opal is among the most valuable opals. In the quantum realm, a Black Opal tutorial is among the most valuable introductory learning resources. Recently, the interactive online learning platform got even more valuable. Fun Fact: Quantum Beast indirectly spawned out of the Black Opal tutorials.
These avatars are getting good.
Watching this video not only tells you about QuEra’s Algorithm Co-Design Program but also shows you the state of AI avatars. I know people who have watched these videos and not realized they were watching avatars. Once AI can animate them talking with their hands, it’s going to be quite challenging to identify them.
Quantum Fiery Voices: Dr. Bob Sutor
For aiding and abetting The Quantum Dragon’s relentless assault, Dr. Bob Sutor is hereby recognized as the zeroth of his Quantum Fiery Voices.
Year of the Snake
ConScience AB is celebrating the Year of the Snake with an image of its coplanar waveguide resonator… which actually resembles a snake. I don’t know much about the company, but it would be hilarious if its Qubit-in-a-Box 0 (QiB0) product could include cat qubits. This link might require a LinkedIn account.
Zapata AI Job Seekers
If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.
- Shawn Gibford Industrial PHDc: Quantum Applications in the Life Sciences
- Dr. Francesco Benfenati Quantum Solutions Engineer
Quantum Noise Detector
Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.
- RSA-2048 will be broken by 2035? Quantum Bullshit Detector and Craig Gidney had a little back-and-forth on Bluesky.
