Rigetti’s Quantum Cloud Services Will Feature Access to Hybrid Systems–Quantum Processors and Traditional Servers

(Forbes.com) Rigetti’s achievements in cloud-based quantum access are numerous. After months of announcing advances in quantum processors, Rigetti Computing announced in September that the platform could bring the speed and computing edge of its tech to actual business users. Called Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services, the platform will feature access to hybrid computing systems—both Rigetti’s own quantum processors as well as traditional servers—co-located at its data centers. Rigetti also announced a series of partnerships with quantum application makers, including 1QBit, Heisenberg and Zapata Computing.
Rigetti Computing has already offered cloud-based quantum access to its computers with its current services. The lag time involved in using quantum in the cloud while handling the more traditional data processing locally on computers, however, made the process prohibitively slow and expensive for some applications, says Rigetti, who founded the company in 2013. Co-locating the computers offers a performance advantage, he claims, over both its current offerings as well as other quantum cloud experiences like IBM’s.
