QURECA’s Worldwide Quantum Dragon

QURECA's Worldwide Quantum Dragon

Of all the maps showing how much countries are investing in quantum, Quantum Initiatives Worldwide 2025 by QURECA is my favorite. This may or may not have something to do with working with Dr. Araceli Venegas-Gomez, Bobby Corpus, Ed Macabebe, and Berns Buenaobra to get the Philippines on the map.

In this edition:

The Premium Quantum Dragon

I’ve published a lot over the years, but most of what I know gets written down as notes. These notes lend themselves to neither full-length articles nor comments in this newsletter, so they are never seen by others. Instead of keeping these notes to myself, I am now publishing The Premium Quantum Dragon.

Quantum computing is not decades away.

I’ve got this under the “Quantum Noise Detector,” since Russ Fein is arguing with NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, but I’m including it here as well because The Quantum Dragon loves the way Mr. Fein includes history lessons in all of his articles. Dragons live for centuries or even millennia, don’t you know?

I like Quandela, but…

…this announcement has issues: 1) Belenos has been on Quandela Cloud for a while; 2) claiming to be “the leader in quantum computing” is rather bold; 3) “the first photonic quantum computer in the cloud” was possibly Xanadu’s, but definitely not Quandela’s; and 4) the marketing person needs one less cup of coffee.

Free Quantum 101 Video Course

Quantum Rings is hosting a 14-episode (20-40 minutes each) virtual summer school taught by MIT PhD student Cora Barrett. It could do without the dead-end algorithms but, hey, it’s free. Also, I’m a big fan of code-first approaches. This is the first time I’ve seen NFT badges being awarded, if you’re into that sort of thing.

The Quantum Dragon’s Pitch Deck

Need a pitch deck for your startup? Thanks to inspiration from Dr. Bob Sutor and a template from Nardo Manaloto of Qubits Ventures, here’s The Quantum Dragon’s pitch deck to be your guide. If you’re building a quantum startup or looking to join a venture studio with your existing company, contact information is provided.

It’s the hole that matters.

This is a short-but-insightful post about quantum computers as tools instead of end goals. This link might require a LinkedIn account. I don’t mean to argue with Yuval Boger, but The Quantum Dragon does in fact wake up craving qubits. Mr. Boger is probably only thinking about humans, though. #sadface

Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!

If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.

Quantum Noise Detector

Alan Ho and Prof. Michael Biercuk inspired the Resuscitated Quantum Bullshit Detector, but the original(?) has resurfaced on Bluesky. It’s back to reposting a simple “bullshit” or “not bullshit,” so The Quantum Dragon will continue to monitor for challenges, controversies, and debates under this new name from Dr. Bob Sutor.
