Germany’s Quantum Dragon Distribution
A Wooden Quantum Dragon Generator
Prof. Tom Wong did some laser cutting at Creighton University Libraries Makerspace, making a wooden quantum key generator (BB84), a set of boxes for teaching quantum key distribution. Shared by Caltech and funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the original project involved Quanten 1×1, Junge Tueftler, the Technical University of Berlin, and Project Sci.Com.

NOT the World’s Largest Quantum Control System
Keysight Technologies claims to have installed the world’s largest commercial quantum control system, supporting over 1,000 qubits, but there’s only one teeny-weenie little problem: IBM, Infleqtion, Atom Computing, and Pasqal have all demonstrated well over 1,000 qubits with whatever control systems they’ve got.
A Fiery Quantum Pirate
I’ve kept a watchful eye on Sergio Gago all year. After all, I do subscribe to his Quantum Pirates newsletter, and you should too. This H1 2025 summary brings some heat, unfortunately involving companies I don’t write about. What a dilemma. It’s just a matter of time before I can draft an appropriate proclamation.
Quantum Fiery Voices
- July 22, 2025 – Olivier Ezratty
- April 8, 2025 — Jensen Huang
- March 18, 2025 — Jack Krupansky
- March 4, 2025 — Prof. Chris Ferrie
- February 5, 2025 — Dr. Bob Sutor
Maybe it is the world’s largest quantum control system?
How many Keysight server racks do you see in the photo? It’s hard to tell because of the curvature, but I think I count ten. If that’s for only 1,000 qubits, then 1,000,000 qubits would require 10,000 racks? In comparison, the xAI Colossus has only about 1,500 racks. This link might require a LinkedIn account.

IQT NORDICS JUNE 2026 ANNOUNCES FIRST SPONSORS
IQT Nordics taking place June 22-24 in Oslo, Norway already has two sponsors: IQM and Zurich Instruments. IQT Nordics Oslo will be the fourth iteration of this significant annual event. The event rotates amongst four countries: Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Information relating to sponsorship, speaking, and registering can be found at www.iqtevent.com.
QUANTUM + AI INCLUDING Q+CRYPTO IN NEW YORK CITY THIS OCTOBER ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS
Over 60 speakers will be presenting at Q+AI October 19-21, 2025 in New York City. Speakers include: Paul Lipman (Infleqtion); Anthony Lawrence (LightRider); Troy Jensen (Cantor); Wil Oxford (Anametric); Marco Paini (Rigetti); and Gina Scinta (Trusted Cyber Technologies). The schedule, registration, and sponsor information is 0available at www.iqtevent.com.

Q-CTRL’s Quantum Navigating Dragon
The Royal Australian Navy field-tested Q-CTRL’s Ironstone Opal on-board quantum navigation sensing system. Disclaimer: The Quantum Dragon is technically optional. Technically. But if I may offer some strong advice: never tell The Quantum Dragon he is optional. He doesn’t like that.

Is Quantum Computing Dead?
The Quantum Dragon does not recognize his Quantum Fiery Voices all willy-nilly. It’s earned. For example, whenever Jack Krupansky publishes something, I need to turn up my air conditioning. I’m in the Philippines, but it doesn’t really get hot over here until I’m reading one of his posts or articles.

Fire Opal AI has been highly acclaimed!
Q-CTRL’s new AI assistant for its Fire Opal error suppression and mitigation software has a strong endorsement from some dude named “Brian Siegelwax.” Never heard of him. In fact, the name sounds kinda made up. I mean, who names their kid “Brian”? Am I right? Failed jokes aside, one of the quotes comes from my review.
A Peek Inside Rigetti’s Lab
“Automated and Streamlined Novera QPU Bring-Up with Qblox and QuantrolOx” is supposed to be about the “automated bring-up, characterization, and tuning of quantum devices,” but I’m honestly just sharing the images inside Rigetti’s laboratory. Feel free to read the article, too, if you’d like.
Zapata AI Job Seekers… only 1 left on this list!
If you were laid off by Zapata AI and would like a free listing in this newsletter, please reach out and let me know. I’ll maintain a list in The Quantum Dragon until everyone on the list has been gainfully employed elsewhere or is otherwise no longer actively job seeking. I might extend this offer to all job seekers, but I’ll start with these layoffs.
