DIA Director Explains Advanced Tech Can Provide Data Leverage and Military Domination

(Defense.gov) The Director of Defense Intelligence Agency said this week that within a decade, China and Russia’s militaries will be using data visualization, artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum encryption and communications. Both China and Russia realize that “whoever can leverage the data understands that can dominate,” Army Lt. Gen. Robert P. Ashley Jr. explained.
DIA’s efforts at improving intelligence gathering have a three-pronged focus:
1) Ensure the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System, has adequate resourcing;
2) The Machine-Assisted Analytic Rapid-Repository System, which is still in development, will become DIA’s database of the future using cloud computing;
3) Open-source intelligence will be used to a much greater extent to future the mission of “providing intelligence on foreign militaries to prevent and decisively win wars.”
