Comparing Performance Between Quantum and Classical Machine Learning

(HPCWire) A team from Southern Methodist University and KPMG recently presented a performance comparison of machine learning algorithms run on quantum and classical computing systems, with the aim of exploring the potential benefits of applying quantum computing to machine learning. The authors–Christopher L. Havenstein, Damarcus T. Thomas and Swami Chandrasekaran– concluded that in some cases, the quantum computers achieved higher accuracy than their classical counterparts.
