BRICS International Quantum Communications Project Announced by Russia’s Rostec State Corporation

(CommunalNews) Shvabe holding of the Russian Rostec State Corporation with the conjoined BRICS research announced a project pertaining quantum communications. BRICS is the acronym coined to associate five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Rostec State Corporation is a Russian state-owned holding conglomerate headquartered in Moscow that specializes in cnsolidating in strategically important companies, mainly in the defense and high-tech industries.
For the first time, it is planned to create an Intercontinental satellite quantum communication channel using the latest elements of macro-and fiber optics, which will cover a distance of more than 10 thousand km.
The special funding was allocated through the BRICS and the Russian government to fund this initiative on behalf of Shvabe holding, the Scientific and Production Association Vavilov State Optical Institute, which participates in it.
South Africa is the lead performer of the project. India will be responsible for modeling fiber-optic communications and China will be working on the pathways of the satellite quantum communications.
